However, getting there has not always been smooth sailing, as recent power outages at Manila’s airport have proven. To address the issue, the Philippines will shut down its entire airspace for six hours on May 17 to replace malfunctioning electrical equipment. The Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila has struggled to cope with soaring passenger traffic, with its Terminal 3 experiencing an almost nine-hour outage on May 1. The incident led to the cancellation of 48 Cebu Pacific flights and caused widespread chaos. Passengers are advised to arrange alternative travel plans and reschedule their flights accordingly. Despite the recent setbacks, plans to upgrade the airport continue to move ahead, aiming to double the annual passenger capacity to 62.5 million by 2028.
