“Poland Lifts Ban on Ukrainian Agricultural Product Imports After European Commission Decision”

Poland’s Ministry of Development and Technology lifted its own ruling on Tuesday banning imports of a number of agricultural products from Ukraine following a compromise decision by the European Commission.

According to “European Truth”corresponding decree published in the Official Gazette of the Polish Government.

“The order of the Minister of Development and Technology dated April 21, 2023 on the ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine … cancel. The decision comes into force from the day it is published,” the text of the document says.

Tuesday 2 May European Commission took exceptional and temporary measures precautions against imports of selected agricultural products from Ukraine after pressure from five European Union member states that blamed Ukrainian imports for the collapse in local prices.

Thus, the European Commission replaced the unilateral decisions of five countries with its own regulation and now the import ban applies to four agricultural products: wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine.

At the same time, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva said that does not feel solidarity from Poland due to the introduction of a unilateral ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.
