‘Super Mario Bros. Movie was posted to Twitter in its entirety on Sunday morning. It was on the network for several hours before it was taken down, racking up approximately 10 million views in that time.

A Twitter account, @vidsthatgohard, uploaded the film to its profile thanks to the ability for Twitter Blue subscriptions to post hour-long videos.

The film was divided into two parts. The first served to see the first hour of the film and the second for the last 32 minutes, and was seen by multiple users.

They leaked the Super Mario Bros movie on Twitter

  • The user @OMGitssAshleym, after the violation of copyright, saw his Twitter account suspended.
  • Another user @vidsthatgohard, who shared the @OMGitssAshley video, only saw his tweet removed after getting thousands of interactions, but he keeps the account.
  • The film has accumulated 9.6 million views, being saved by 40,000 accounts and retweeted up to 19,000 times.
  • For 7 hours no copyright was claimed or account deactivated.
  • According to The Verge website, Elon Musk fired the vast majority of the teams responsible for Twitter’s copyright security and compliance this Saturday.
  • The Verge also says that this is not the first case of copyrighted content being shared on Twitter. It’s unusual for an entire movie to stay on the platform for such a long time.
