“Coronavirus Hospital Admissions Drop by 35%: Latest Figures from RIVM”

According to the weekly figures from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), the number of hospital admissions has fallen by about 35 percent in a week. Only eight corona patients ended up in intensive care units last week.

Daily life

RIVM no longer keeps track of how many people have tested positive, because the test streets are closed. The coronavirus has become a part of everyday life, or endemic.

To keep an eye on the spread of the virus, RIVM has developed the Infection Radar app. Users can report there whether they have corona-like complaints and whether they have tested positive. About 2.6 percent of all users have complaints that resemble a corona infection, the lowest percentage since the beginning of September last year. About 0.5 percent tested positive for the coronavirus. That is the lowest level since mid-January. If the decline continues, next week the rate could reach its lowest level since October 2021.

Lowest number

RIVM also measures how many virus particles are in the sewage. Those numbers are leveling off. They are stable, at the lowest level since January. According to the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS), hospitals are currently still treating 263 people who have the corona virus, an average of two to three per hospital. That is the lowest number since September 9. (AP)
