WASHINGTON, May 2 (Reuters) – U.S. job openings fell for the third consecutive month in March, but remained at levels consistent with a tight labor market, the latest “Jolts” survey shows (Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey) from the Labor Department released Tuesday.
The number of job openings fell by 384,000 to 9.59 million on the last day of March, the lowest level since April 2021.
February data has been revised upwards to 9.974 million job openings instead of the previously reported 9.931 million.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast an average of 9.775 million job creations.
This statistic, which measures the state of labor demand, is closely monitored within the Fed to determine the evolution of its monetary policy.
