For more than three decades, the Eifel has been all about truck racing every third weekend in July. Hardly any other event at the Nürburgring promises visitors as much variety as the International ADAC Truck Grand Prix, which this year features an extended supporting programme. Whether motorsport fan, festival supporter, professional driver or trade visitor – there is something for the whole family at the 36th edition.

“Motorsport, entertainment, sustainability and innovation – that’s what the ADAC Truck Grand Prix stands for, which also marks a season highlight in the European motorsport calendar. We expect around 50,000 day visitors who can look forward to a spectacular weekend full of action and entertainment,” says Marc Hennerici, Managing Director of the organizer ADAC Travel & Event Mittelrhein GmbH.

The focus of the sporting part is on the runs of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship, in which Europe’s best truck racing drivers compete against each other. Top pilots such as Jochen Hahn, Sascha Lenz and Norbert Kiss engage in an exciting exchange of blows for valuable EM points on the legendary Eifel circuit and offer fans motorsport up close and personal as well as the French championship, which will again be a guest at the Ring in 2022.

Motorsport up close: FIA ETRC & GT Masters

Two motorsport worlds will meet again this year with another prominent guest appearance: for the first time since 2012, the popular racing series ADAC GT Masters will make a pit stop at the Truck Grand Prix. The super sports cars from manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche or McLaren, with 550 hp and a top speed of 250 km/h on the Nürburgring, meet race trucks with 1,000 hp and a top speed limit of 160 km/h. The performance is as different as the fuel is sustainable: both racing series rely on alternative energies such as hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) with which CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 90 percent.

Top decision-makers at one of the largest commercial vehicle trade fairs

One of the largest industrial trade fairs in the commercial vehicle sector takes place throughout the weekend in the adjacent exhibition park. National and international truck manufacturers, suppliers and freight forwarders present themselves to the public on around 10,000 square meters. In addition, the sustainable (drive) technologies of tomorrow will be shown in an innovation camp. This is also a topic of the ADAC/TÜV Rheinland TruckSymposium, which will take place on Friday, July 14th. High-ranking experts from politics and business exchange views on the solutions for the logistics of tomorrow. Interested trade visitors can register at trucksymposium.de.

Family entertainment with traffic education

During the entire race weekend, visitors can look forward to a diverse supporting program: from a trucker parade to a fan village and trucker camp to children’s land, where, in addition to duck rodeo and bouncy castles, there will also be a traffic event for children for the first time this year. The ADAC Mittelrhein and Blicki eV sensitize the little ones to the dangers of trucks on the road. The kangaroo Blicki explains the important traffic rules and sources of danger to the children at various learning stations and at the Truck Grand Prix truck, keyword blind spot. The joint campaign is under the patronage of Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing.

Country & party music with fireworks

This year there will be a lot of music again in the Müllenbachschleife, where, by popular request from the truck community, there will be party music for the first time in addition to country music. On Friday, July 14, US shooting star Jessica Lynn, the band Gone Country and long-time favorite Tom Astor will make country hearts beat faster from 7 p.m., and fans can expect a musical surprise. A day later, Tobee, Schürz, Julian Benz, Markus Becker and Isi Glück ensure a great party atmosphere in the Müllenbachschleife with the traditional fireworks as a further highlight.

Charity campaigns for the Ahr Valley

As part of the #SolidAHRität campaign, various charity campaigns are planned for the entire weekend, the proceeds of which will benefit the flood victims and the reconstruction in the Ahr Valley: from the mobile Ahr Valley store with local products to the Ahr Valley Bakery truck, in which the from Katrin ‘Tinka’ Oschmann, well-known from the Kabel1 series ‘Trucker Babe’, sells, among other things, specially designed Truck Grand Prix donuts.

Job fair for job seekers

A topic that affects Tinka, but also the entire trucker scene, is the lack of skilled workers. For this purpose, the ADAC Mittelrhein, together with the Nürburgring, is organizing the Truck-Grand-Prix Job-Expo for the second time, which brings together those interested in the profession with future employers. The fair takes place from Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the ring°boulevard (Nürburgring Boulevard 1, 53520 Nürburg), admission is free.
