Man Arrested in Connection with Reported Hate Crime in Lurgan’s Ashleigh Crescent Area

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted criminal damage following a reported hate crime in Lurgan’s Ashleigh Crescent area on 30 April. This followed circulation of a video online in which men were shown shouting verbal, sectarian abuse outside a single mother’s house in the Co Armagh town. The footage, which was caught by security cameras, showed a group surrounding the property and shouting threats including ‘the t**g is in’ and ‘no f*****s here’. DUP MP Carla Lockhart, Alliance Party member Eoin Tennyson and Sinn Féin councillor Keith Haughian all condemned the incident.
