GERB Leader Boyko Borisov Comments on PP-DB’s Draft Cabinet and Recent Assassination Attempt Against Prosecutor General

In the draft cabinet of PP-DB there are figures about whom I cannot say anything bad – the ministers of defense and ecology. But they got the timing wrong – the people for a second election said they couldn’t govern alone. Apart from me, the PP-DB has no other friends, and a regular cabinet would only be possible if it were shared with GERB. However, it is generally partisan and unacceptable to us. This was stated by GERB leader Boyko Borisov to journalists in Razgrad.

“I thank President Radev for giving more time. We already have a draft, which for us is strictly unacceptable, because the cabinet of the PP is a party one, since Vassilev and Denkov participate in it. If places are found in the template for our leading experts such as ministers, it can happen. I also congratulate Petkov that he is not in the cabinet, but if they let Vasilev go, then either they have a lot of trust in him, or he is a big trap. The main criticisms were against him – either they want to shoot him or not nothing happens. Asen Vassilev’s only friend is Boyko Borisov – that’s the only way universal responsibility can be borne. But if Vassilev is the hidden prime minister – it’s not fair, it’s better if he becomes prime minister,” he pointed out.

According to him, GERB does not want to “blow up” the negotiations. “In this form, there is no way to have a PP-DB cabinet. I will be interested in the negotiations with DPS and ITN. I hope the president will give a few more days so that we can hear the other parties as well. We are in constant conversation with them, they are behaving collegially and we to them – too,” said Borisov.

He also commented on yesterday’s explosion against the motorcade of the Prosecutor General. “An assassination attempt against anyone is a sinister thing. It is an act that endangers the life of not only the Attorney General and his family, but also any random person. That is why we condemn it with all the power we have. This ugly event that drags on bad consequences for Bulgaria, it makes us even more ambitious to complete the legal reform. I sympathize with Geshev, for this to be done in front of his wife and children, it is a monstrous act, but the reform will continue. They fail to blow up the reform that has been started,” stressed Borisov.

“Once they have attacked the Prosecutor General, they can attack everyone. The armored car saved him. After such acts, many people in Brussels will think about whether we are ready for Schengen. If a regular government is not formed, even a short-term one, which bears responsibility, then you see what the consequences are – impoverishment, inflation, lack of investment – severe consequences in every sphere”, he added.

He cited Alexey Petrov’s book Terrorism and Security Systems. “There it is clearly explained what terrorism is – creating chaos, fear, forcing a person, system or country to comply with other opinions and priorities,” Borissov pointed out.
