Ukraine Deputy Foreign Minister, Emine Dzhaparova, has issued an apology after the country’s defence ministry posted a picture on Twitter that depicted a female figure above blast smoke, resembling the Hindu goddess Kali. The tweet sparked outrage, with social media users quickly pointing out the offensive nature of the image. In response, Ukraine removed the offensive depiction and issued an apology, confirming that it “respects unique Indian culture and highly appreciates support from India.” Ms. Dzhaparova tweeted the apology, stating that Ukraine is “determined to further increase cooperation in spirit of mutual respect and friendship.” The incident has caused widespread condemnation on social media, with many calling for the defence ministry to show greater sensitivity and respect towards other cultures.
