Bob Odenkirk, the star of “Better Call Saul,” surprised visitors at the Independence Museum Kilmurry in mid-Cork this past weekend. While on his way to Macroom, Odenkirk spotted a sign for the museum and decided to visit. He was interested in learning more about the War of Independence and Civil War, expressing surprise at how involved Cork was in these events. As his great-grandparents are from Cork, Odenkirk is excited to trace his ancestry and learn more about the county’s history. He even offered to take photos with visitors and posed for a selfie with the museum’s volunteers. Visitors to the museum can enjoy the Michael Collins exhibition, which marks the centenary of the ambush at Béal na Bláth. This visit marks another celebrity spotting for Kilmurry, as Ken Loach filmed scenes for “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” in the village. Volunteers at the museum are always welcomed and may even get a chance to enjoy a cup of tea with a Golden Globe-nominated star like Bob Odenkirk.
