NEW YORK NASA plans to build a space observation station on the Moon. Unmitigated, the size will be as large as Washington DC.

As reported by Live Science, Monday (1/5/2023), the observation station will be accompanied by a wide array of antennas. In addition, a 77-square-mile telescope will also be built that snakes over the surface of the moon.

The radio telescope, called the FarView Observatory, will allow astronomers to go beyond current limitations.

They can see what other instruments cannot see called the “Dark Ages” of the universe.

“I have personally advocated radio telescopes on the moon for 40 years now,” said Jack Burns, a professor in the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences at CU Boulder who is a member of the FarView project.

“It will investigate parts of the universe that we haven’t been able to see before,” he continued.

To note, the radio telescope actually has a lot in common with the radio antenna in a car.

The telescope will be equipped with a giant dish capable of picking up radio waves that radiate through the cosmos from exploding stars, forming stars, black holes, and so on.
