According to Raphael Walz, Gundelfingen is in talks with the district office of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and the regional council of Freiburg because of the closed Gundelfinger Strasse. This had ordered the blocking at Gundelfingen’s suggestion. It is intended to prevent traffic from shifting to Gundelfingen because of the construction site on the B3. At the same time, it forces people in Heuweiler to take great detours. “We’re looking for alternatives, but don’t have a patent solution yet,” said the mayor at the most recent Gundelfingen council meeting. “It’s also a psychological problem when you have the shortest route in front of your front door and you can’t use it.” He understands the anger of the citizens. “A construction site causes problems, you shouldn’t create additional ones,” commented local councilor Lukas Paul (SPD) on what he saw as the unnecessary closure. In the meantime, care for the patients in Heuweiler is ensured by the Hornbruch nursing service, says managing director Michael Hornbruch. For a fee, his company received a special permit from the district office to drive to Heuweiler via the Lehener Eck.
