He will tell you!
The packed audience came to the cultural center with this expectation, and then, hearing the stories told, every minute someone recognized himself for his mistakes, and maybe at that moment (or a little later…) he vowed that the “doctor” was right, and then he would improve …, because he’s really been on the wrong path so far…
– This evening I talked about what I understand, what interests me and what is reality. I think that anyone who lives here in Hungary today and reads news on various channels and watches TV has an opinion on a lot of things and can express it. Then, when he does it in a family circle or in the company of his friends, he sometimes describes it in the online world, where three hundred or three hundred thousand people read it, it doesn’t really matter – said Dr. Gabor Zacher. – The fact that I was honored by being invited here and was able to express my opinion is very good. I was invited for a reason. Probably not because they read something about me yesterday. I regularly give lectures, in which I talk partly about my own field of expertise and partly about things related to it. I really hope that it can be understood by someone who has only read ten books in his life, and also by someone who knows 40,000 words in Hungarian and speaks our language at the level of János Arany.
– Suddenly, everyone pushed the person sitting next to them a little… Probably because you started talking about common addictions that almost everyone has, which we don’t even think of as such.
– The astonishment is understandable, because we don’t like to say that we are addicted! We don’t really like looking in the mirror, which of course we all know shows reality. Of course, we practice criticism very, very easily from others. We say that this one drinks and even takes drugs, the gambler, the other cheats on her husband, and he cheats on his wife.
– We are in a small village where they don’t like to talk about such things…
– Think about it, in a settlement of this size, say two and a half thousand inhabitants, everyone knows each other. If a stamp from the above is put on someone here, then he is done for here, because they are always whispering behind his back. He is left with the option of starting a new life elsewhere, with a clean slate. From this point of view, a big city has all the advantages. You move two streets away, and they don’t even know who you are, where you play football, and so on. There you will be part of the faceless crowd. Here, on the other hand, if you leave for the bus in the morning, you continuously say hello, kiss me, good morning, Serb until the bus stop.
– According to your school, I am also an addictk! Because of the crappy TV. So far I’ve been completely calm about it. Let’s take a look and then we’re done. Or not?
– I’m one too, because I smoke, I’m a workaholic, I love to run, and in the latter I very often can’t keep my limits, as evidenced by an Achilles inflammation… I’m really addicted to serials, and of course I love to read. When the world quiets down in the hospital between half past two and two in the morning, and maybe I could lie down for a nap, but I’d rather take out a book and read for another hour. At that time, of course, one picks up a crime novel, a thriller, or a historical book, and not some spiritual work that would make one’s veins burst. Then I fall down at around three, and in the meantime I know that in an hour the phone will ring or a patient will arrive. It’s worth it to me anyway.
And then there’s the chocolate!
– Chocolate, which is again a very important thing in my life. Hazelnuts, which I can eat in incredible quantities. And not cultured. So, if a person is a regular addict, they don’t eat it by putting it in their mouth and savoring it, but like a pig, sometimes together with tinfoil. That’s why my car is full of shiny pieces. Think how nice it is when you find a hazelnut under the seat during a thorough car cleaning. Because you can still eat it!
Do I know my own child?!
– The whole audience froze in an instant when he started talking about family. I felt that he spoke about it with faith. Why is it so important to talk to strangers about this issue of trust?
– I think it’s because they go home after our conversation, and in their own environment, they might look in the mirror a little and think. For example, what kind of music do they listen to? Of course it’s horrible, but maybe Azahriah, Carson Coma, or Beton.Hofi are singing about the problem of that adolescent child. And then I might say to him, “Listen, son! What if we went here or there at the end of the week, went for a bike ride, went up to Budapest and went to the zoo? It might be good for the child to say, “Dad, at the age of sixteen, this is really bad!”. Although in most cases it is not, it is worth trying. Or they would go to the circus, or to the Vaszary exhibition in the castle. Or they’d just go upstairs to hang out. Or for a game. A real big one. Let’s say you would try to get two points for the women’s handball EHF Cup final four? What if they didn’t go by car and dropped into Monyó at noon and had a beer?! Let’s say you have a glass, it’s only two and a half deci, bearable and very tasty. And that’s it. That’s enough.
And they would talk a lot!
– In the meantime, they would talk about all kinds of things. Because the common denominators should be found. After some devastating sentences heard here at the lecture, which made the air freeze here, and at home it is about to thaw. Our biggest goal should be that the child is not ashamed of his father! Because it usually happens that we, the old, are more likely to be the gas for the young! We have to move towards their world to understand them.
