Security: the army prohibits the wearing of military uniforms for civilians

Published on 01.05.2023 at 10:28 by Journal du Mali

In a statement dated April 30, the army invites civilians to refrain from wearing military uniforms without authorization, on the understanding that measures will be taken to research and combat the irregular wearing of uniforms. This press release follows an observation. According to the General Staff of the armed forces, many fighters neutralized during the complex attack against Sévaré airport on April 22 were wearing military uniforms. As a result, the army draws attention to the danger posed to public safety by the unregulated wearing of military uniforms. The General Staff warns that measures will be taken to fight against it. These “provisions will lead to the systematic withdrawal of outfits, with the possibility of prosecution against offenders for endangering the lives of others”. The General Staff also invites all sellers of military uniforms or equipment of all types to comply, by showing their licenses. The deadline is May 15, 2023.
