Lane Motor Museum’s Collection of European Vehicles Includes Rare Czech Cars and Trucks, Including a Tatra 815 for Sale

The Lane Motor Museum in Nashville is one of the most popular automotive museums in the United States. And that’s thanks to the remarkable collection of European vehicles.

The collection also includes cars from the former Czechoslovakia, such as Aero, Škoda and Tatra cars. The museum also has Jawa machines, Velorexs or a Praga car.

The museum is currently trying to get rid of one Czech vehicle. The Tatra 815, i.e. one of the most famous and successful trucks of Czech and Czechoslovakian production, appeared in the range of cars available for purchase. The Tatra 815 was presented to the public for the first time at the 24th International Engineering Fair in Brno in September 1982.

The example sold by Lane Motor Museum is from 1994, has a mid-cab with entry in front of the front axle and a three-axle 6×6 chassis. The drive is provided by an air-cooled twelve-cylinder Tatra engine with a volume of 19 liters, supercharged by two turbochargers. It is connected to an Allison automatic transmission.

The museum reveals that the Tatra was ordered new by a certain Alaskan logging company. The company used the vehicle as a recovery vehicle and for transporting damaged mining equipment. It now has about 65,000 kilometers on it.

The museum further claims that the 815 with hydraulic winch is in good, working condition and has new batteries. And it is funny to note that the nearest dealer is located in Venezuela.

Tatrovka is for sale for 45 thousand dollars, which translates to about 960 thousand crowns.
