NEW YORK — For the second day in a row, Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets has been postponed due to bad weather.
The decision was made about three and a half hours before the first pitch, which was due at 1:40 p.m. The two teams, which were already to face each other on Monday, will then play a double program.
The Braves have announced that Spencer Strider (3-0, 180 ERA), who was scheduled to start Sunday’s game, will be on the mound in Monday’s opener. He will be followed by Charlie Morton (3-2, 2.76 ERA) who had been identified as the likely pitcher for Monday’s game.
The Mets have yet to reveal their Game 1 starter, but will look to Tylor Megill (3-1, 3.96 ERA) for Game 2 of the doubleheader.
As for Saturday’s matchup, also postponed due to rain, it will be presented as part of a two-part doubleheader on August 12 at Citi Field, home of the Mets.
The meeting between the two teams on Friday evening was shortened to five innings due to rain.
Stuck in a slide, the Mets have lost five of their last six games. Elsewhere, the Braves have won seven of their last eight outings against the Mets, a streak that began last year.
The streak includes sweeping a three-game streak in Atlanta late in the 2022 season that helped the Braves claim a fifth straight division title.
