National Researcher Arrested for Threats Against Muhammadiyah Members

Jakarta

Bareskrim Polri has arrested researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Andi Prince Hasanuddin. Andi Pangerang was arrested in relation to threats against Muhammadiyah members.

This case began when Andi Pangerang Hasanuddin made the controversial comment ‘halalize the blood of all Muhammadiyah’ on Facebook.

The threatening comments were shared on social media by the Chancellor of the Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UMJ) Ma’mun Murod. There are four screenshots that Murod shared with the following captions:

“Mr. President @jokowi Prof. @mohmahfudmd, Mr. Kapolri @ListyoSigitP @DivHumas_Polri, Gus Minister of Religion @YaqutCQoumas, Chief @brin_indonesia what about all this? Why are you playing with threats to kill? BRIN as a research institution should be filled with those who show their intellectuality, not just like thugs .”

In one of the screenshots, another BRIN researcher, Thomas Jamaluddin, can be seen explaining the difference between Eid days. He said the government facilitated Muhammadiyah which had determined the start of Eid 2023.

Andi Prince Hasanuddin with the account AP Hasanuddin then replied to a comment by an account named Ahmad Fauzan S uploaded by Thomas on Sunday (23/4/2023). AP Hasanuddin made threats.

“Should I make lawful or not, the blood of all Muhammadiyah? What’s more, Muhammadiyah was infiltrated by Hizb ut-Tahrir through the global Islamic calendar agenda from Gema Liberation? There’s a lot of talk! I’m here to kill you one by one. Please report my comments with threats to the article on murder! I’m ready jailed. I’m tired of seeing your fights,” said Andi.
