Former Waitrose employee David Graham has criticized the supermarket chain for wasting food. Graham, who worked at a branch of Waitrose in Parkstone, started protesting food waste by eating discarded doughnuts. His actions resulted in his dismissal after an investigation by the supermarket. Graham claimed that Waitrose had changed its policy towards food waste, and accused the company of “mismatching its messaging”. Waitrose said it donated edible food to charities and that it had clear rules on the consumption of food products by its employees. Graham has now launched an electronic and software start-up business.
