Paços de Ferreira took three points of redoubled importance in the fight to escape relegation, taking advantage of Marítimo’s home defeat (1-2) against V. Guimarães. The goals scored by Gaitán (16′) and Paulo Bernardo (32′) in the first half were worth it.
It was already knowing the result of Marítimo that César Peixoto’s team went to the game, with the main novelty being the return of goalkeeper Marafona to the eleven, after three matches of suspension. And the victory even began to be built from the safety of Marafona, proving to be a cornerstone in the first 15′, of dominance by the home team, which at the 12th minute had a flagrant opportunity to open the scoring, with Etim staying in the Marafona’s face but with the latter masterfully opposing the Vizelian striker, denying him the 1-0.
Up until that point, Paços had some difficulties in starting the game, but at 16′ they managed to build a play with a beginning, middle and end, with Delgado killing Vizela’s attack and launching a counterattack that went through Guedes and ended up in Gaitán, who At the edge of the area, he fired a shot out of Buntic’s reach, scoring the first goal of the game.
Penalized by (lack of) effectiveness, Vizela chased after the loss, but continued to not take advantage of opportunities in the last third and saw Samu (22′) and Etim (28′) not hitting the goal, once again embodying the saying which says that those who don’t score… suffer. This is because Paços, even without creating chances, did not waste the balls they put in the area and in a corner kick by Nigel Thomas at 32′, they made it 2-0 through Paulo Bernardo, who was left alone at the second post and only had to push into the goal. Vizela took the hit and didn’t have more chances until half-time, being saved by the crossbar in a kick from the middle of the street by Paulo Bernardo, who hit the iron with a bang and saw the 3-0 denied.
Tulipa risked earlier for the start of the second half, took out the defensive midfielder Claudemir and launched Zohi, and saw Vizela take control of the game, but had to wait until the 78th minute to reach the goal, precisely with Zohi assisting Lacava, who had entered minutes before, for 1-2.
The goal from Vizelen stirred up the game for the final minutes and exorcised the more sleepy pace that Paços wanted to impose, but until the end the scoreboard did not change, allowing César Peixoto’s team to return to triumphs after three consecutive defeats and after five rounds without any victory.
