Bogus officials call on the phone and trick the person into thinking they’ve been approved to replace wood stoves with air conditioners or other eco-friendly appliances
Citizens from Pleven report a new scam. They received phone calls from strangers posing as employees of a company conducting a survey for the “For Cleaner Air” project.
The bogus officials call on the phone and trick the person into thinking they have been approved to replace wood stoves with air conditioners or other environmentally friendly appliances. They are also deceiving that they should inspect the home and collect their old stoves, BNR reports.
This is a scam, says Deputy Mayor Stefan Milev:
“The deadline for municipalities to apply for the “Environment” program is October 21, 2023. Until then, no one will enter people’s houses and will not do anything in connection with inspections of their homes.
I invite the citizens of the municipality of Pleven, because small settlements will also be included in this program, not to be misled by such calls. There are phone numbers listed where they can get information about this program. This will happen in January 2024 at the earliest.”
