CGT Mobilizes to Help Recruiting Caregivers at Lodève Hospital

IIt is not a question of replacing us with Pôle emploi », reassures Thierry Bousquel. But rather to lend a hand and insist on « the urgency to recruit caregivers » at the understaffed Lodève hospital, specifies the secretary of the local CGT union.

Saturday, April 15, the union held its first recruitment office on the market square. « We collected 3 CVs including a nursing assistant and a pharmacy assistant. » Job applications that were sent on April 24 to the director of the Lodève hospital. « He promised to receive the candidates. We won’t let go »warns Thierry Bousquel.

It must be said that no less than 22 jobs are to be filled at the hospital center including 3 doctors, a coordinator, 7 nurses, nursing assistants, radio manipulators, an occupational psychologist and even a dietitian. At the same time, the CGT offers candidates to drop off their CVs in the mailboxes of the local union or union at the hospital. « We will send them »promises Thierry Bousquel.

For the CGT, it is also a way to relieve overwhelmed colleagues. « They work just in time. By dint of pulling on the rope, some leave, others are on sick leave. »

This is not the first time that the CGT has mobilized in the Heart of Hérault. Last year in June, round tables on health brought together 300 people. Already the union pointed to the lack of sanitary means alongside an association which calls for real means for emergencies in Lodève. « We are 45 minutes from Montpellier University Hospital, we want at least one antenna »claims Thierry Bousquel, himself a technical agent at the Lodève hospital.

Especially since the reception center for the permanence of care (Caps), which acts as an emergency, remains threatened. « The liberal doctors have left and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) refuses to finance the recruitment of salaried doctors up to 300 000 euros »deplores the cegetist.

In the meantime, 7 or 8 positions are missing despite the help of the hospital (nurses, premises, equipment…). Health is priceless but the ARS does not hear it that way. » Thierry Bousquel fears for the future of Caps. « Rumor has it that the ARS would like to close it between 2am and 6am at night. Lunel did the same before definitively closing his Caps… »
