The guesswork about Lionel Messi’s future will probably continue for a few more weeks. Inter Miami would like to bring the superstar to Major League Soccer. The local league boss bends for it.

For Don Garber it is very clear where Lionel Messi should play from the coming season: in the North American Major League Soccer. From there, Inter Miami has been luring the superstar to the southern tip of Florida for some time.

“We will work very hard with Miami, the team that hopes to sign him, to develop a program for him that will allow him to create a legacy that I think could be unparalleled anywhere in the world.” said league boss Garber during a media round.

For Garber, Messi would be without a doubt the greatest athlete of all time to have ever played in the United States. The MLS boss points out that the clubs have always managed to bring in top stars in the past.

This series includes David Beckham, now co-owner of Inter Miami, Clint Dempsey and Steven Gerrard. Whether Messi will actually bite in the next few weeks is questionable. La Pulga is said to prefer to continue his career in Europe for the time being.

And there is likely only one goal this summer: to return to FC Barcelona. Like Inter Miami, Barça are currently trying everything humanly possible to get the deal through. To do this, however, a few levers still have to be set in motion.
