President of International Military Sports Council Discusses Future of Sports Games with Russian Defense Minister

President of the International Council of Military Sports (CISM), Colonel of the Armed Forces of Brazil Rolim Gomez visited Moscow. He met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Mr. Gomez called the plans of the Russian authorities to work with the younger generation in the field of sports games very important.

“I hope that Russia will remain as strong not only with the results achieved, but also with future achievements, especially in working with the younger generation. They spend too much time playing games on the phone, and the steps that Russia is going to take in working with the younger generation are very important, ”said the Brazilian colonel (quoted by TASS).

Mr. Shoigu said that in 2024 Russia will host the first international games among students of pre-university educational organizations of the defense departments of CISM countries. According to the minister, military sports demonstrate that “the military can not only fight on the battlefield, but also peacefully compete in sports arenas.” At the end of the meeting, he presented Rolim Gomes with a souvenir broadsword as a gift.

“Here, of course, we pay special attention to our younger generation, so it is very pleasant that CISM is also involved in the younger generation, children. Those championships that CISM intends to hold, between pre-university military educational institutions, cadets – we will, of course, actively participate in this, and we hope that we will show a very good, worthy result there, ”the Russian minister added.
