Today, April 29, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov congratulated the residents and guests of the capital on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of Bishkek.

Below is the text of the congratulations:

“Dear Kyrgyzstanis!

Dear citizens!

Dear guests!

Today is an important day – the Day of Bishkek, the capital of our sovereign Kyrgyzstan.

I sincerely congratulate everyone on the Day of Bishkek, the 145th anniversary of the capital! We all know well that our capital used to be called Pishpek, and then Frunze. And only after our country was proclaimed sovereign, democratic, it officially received its historical name – Bishkek.

In Soviet times, the capital had the status of a “green city”. And for all Kyrgyzstanis, of course, it is a great honor to see Bishkek among the wonderful cities of the world called the “marble city”.

It is impossible not to note the great work of the statesman and politician, national hero of Kyrgyzstan Turdakun Usubaliev in achieving such well-deserved respect from the international community.

For the first time in its 145-year history, the area, which contained only 752 houses, not counting more than a hundred yurts, has become a blessed city, which today is home to more than a million people.

At present, Bishkek has become a favorite city of Kyrgyzstan, which encourages our citizens to come here again and again, as well as an attractive place for recreation for guests who come in cool summers and warm winters.

If we listen to the wise saying: “Motherland is not a trophy from ancestors, but a sacred duty that we will pass on to our children”, then we are obliged to pass on the heritage from our ancestors, the place of birth, especially its capital Bishkek, to the future generation, keeping it a “green city ”, “marble city” and increasing its beauty.

That is why we must pay special attention to improving the architectural appearance and infrastructure of our city. Today, along with boulevards, parks, botanical gardens, cultural and shopping centers are being opened, monuments are being erected, historical sites are being developed. For example, on the site of the remains of the ancient city of Julya, dating back to the 5th-6th centuries of our era, archaeological research is underway, and restoration work is underway.

Also, in order to create conditions for the recreation of the population and guests of the city, to improve the environmental situation, a number of parks were put into operation, the construction of entertainment centers and bicycle paths continues. We will continue in this rhythm and make every effort to make the capital of our sovereign republic with a long history one of the most prosperous cities in the world.

Dear compatriots!

Once again, I congratulate you on the Day of Bishkek, which is the face of Kyrgyzstan, the heart of the state! We must be able to love our capital, which leads every citizen of Kyrgyzstan to a brighter future, inspires them to implement their plans, and welcomes everyone with open arms.

Let our capital develop every day and become more beautiful!”
