Microsoft’s most recent roadmap update confirms that version 22H2 will be the last feature update for Windows 10. Despite this, security updates will continue to be released until October 2025. The company’s efforts have been focused on Windows 11, and the lack of feature updates for Windows 10 is not a major concern for most users. However, the 2025 cutoff means that PCs which do not meet the requirements for Windows 11 will no longer receive official support for Windows security updates. Most affected systems will be over seven years old, but still useful, prompting users to either install unsupported Windows 11 or opt for an alternate operating system. Microsoft’s next “LTSC” version of Windows 11 will not be released until the second half of 2024, with the regular consumer versions of Windows seeing a significant 23H2 update later this year.
