Iran’s defense capabilities range from radar and missile systems to satellites and defense electronics.
“Iranian engineers have created technology capable of detecting fingerprints of enemy equipment, including a special radar that identifies individual Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets,” said Brigadier General Amir Rastegari, head of the Iranian Electronics Industry (IEI).
“We have fingerprints from the enemy’s electronic equipment. Just as fingerprints are unique to humans, this also applies to electromagnetic systems, and we have achieved the technology (to detect them) for several years,” the official said in an interview with local media.
“For example, if an F-35 fighter’s radar starts operation and surveillance, it emits a different radar pulse than other F-35 radar waves. Today, we are able to recognize them, that is, we can receive and analyze telecommunications, radio and magnetic signals and know which warplane they belong to. If the same fighter jet becomes operational later, we will find out soon,” said Rastegari.
“The ability to monitor all dimensions of the electromagnetic waves projected by enemy aircraft allows Iran to plan defense operations accordingly,” the official said.
Rastegari explained that Iran has also acquired the ability to bombard enemy aircraft’s radar and communication systems with radio waves to disrupt their operations, and has successfully tested its systems against real-world adversaries.
“Some time ago, an enemy aircraft approached the boundary of our airspace and started emitting radar waves to gather information,” he said.
