Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal play a married couple in the upcoming dystopian sci-fi thriller, Foe. In an interview with Document, Ronan revealed that the pair became genuine friends while making the film, describing Mescal as a “good friend” and praising his Oscar success. Despite leaving Ireland at the age of 19, Ronan admitted that there is “nothing” compared to growing up in Ireland and identifies with it as home. In Foe, the pair live on an isolated farm, disrupted by a stranger’s knock on the door and the news that one of them has been selected to travel to a large, experimental space station orbiting Earth. Mescal has recently released his first official music single, “Slip Away,” part of the soundtrack for Carmen, in which he plays a marine with PTSD who falls in love with a young woman who is forced to flee her home in the Mexican desert after her mother is murdered.
