The commander of the West Coast military region, Major General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, assigned the 52nd Infantry Brigade to station within the central Zawiya municipality in the first phase of the city’s security plan.
Major General Al-Namroush said in a televised statement: “We will not allow chaos to continue inside Zawiya, and our goal is to protect state institutions and citizens and prevent their torture by some incoming criminals.”
Today, Thursday, the commander of the West Coast Military Region, Major General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met in his office at the Military Region Administration, a number of representatives of the peaceful Zawiya youth movement, where he listened to the youth’s demands.
In his meeting with the youth of Al-Zawiya, the district commander praised the civilized dealings and the great awareness of the people of the city, in preserving the property of citizens and state institutions, and not vandalizing.
At the end of the meeting, the commander of the West Coast Military Region confirmed that the region and all its members are under the command of the people of Zawiya, and that orders will be issued immediately to start a comprehensive security plan for the city.
The city of Al-Zawiya witnessed demonstrations and the closure of the coastal road in protest against the deteriorating security conditions and the spread of crime, after a video clip spread of the torture of Libyan youths at the hands of people of African nationalities.
The city’s demonstrating youth issued a statement, a copy of which was obtained by “Eye Libya”, containing several demands.
The statement called for the suspension of the municipal council and its members, holding them accountable, holding elections for the municipality of Al-Zawi, and the arrest of the director of the Security Directorate of Al-Zawiya and his compliance before the courts.
The demonstrators also demanded an end to the phenomenon of armed and armored cars once and for all, the transfer of the state’s military headquarters outside the city, and the abolition of the illegal legitimacy issued by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense.
The statement also included calls for stopping the current joint security force and re-forming it, arresting African mercenaries affiliated with gangs and security services, raiding illegal immigration dens, criminalizing witches and everyone who deals with them, and issuing a law providing for their criminalization.
The demonstrators demanded the arrest of all the criminals involved in the killings and those involved in the criminal crimes, the raiding of the smuggling dens, the prevention of its sale on the coastal road and inside the city, and its final closure, and the accountability of the owners of gas stations who contributed to closing their stations and selling their orders to smugglers, in addition to demanding that they activate an anti-counterfeiting apparatus. Drugs and raid drug dens.
The statement pointed to the need to form a committee as soon as possible from the security services known for their competence and integrity, under the signature of the sheikhs of the Zawiya tribes, to lift the social cover for criminals.
On the instructions of the commander of the 52nd Infantry Brigade, some units of the 52nd Infantry Brigade set off for the precious city of Zawiya.. to secure it, protect the civilian citizens, and establish security within it..
