The American Floyd Mayweather, the undefeated former boxing world championwill face John Gotti III, grandson of a former New York crime boss, in an exhibition match on June 11 in the state of Florida.
Mayweather, 46 years old, he retired from the ring in 2017 after 50 undefeated bouts. In recent years, ‘Money’ has been involved in fights that do not count towards his immaculate career record.
Also American Gotti, 30, has a 5-1 record in mixed martial arts (MMA) fights and in his last appearance he suffered a loss against Nick Alley in 2020.
The former MMA, who after switching to boxing has a 2-0 record, is the grandson of John Gottithe well-known Gambino clan boss who died in prison in 2002.
in a press conference joint with MayweatherGotti III said Thursday that he has admired his next opponent since he was a child but is ready to face him in the Sunrise ring, outside Miami.
“Make no mistake, on June 11 I have bad intentions for that man,” he declared.. “And I don’t care if it’s an exhibition or not. You started fighting me, there’s no quarter. So it’s kill or be killed.”
Mayweather has previously boxed television and YouTube stars in some of their exhibitions.
“I’m going to show you different stylessomething that these past YouTubers, whatever you want to call them, didn’t do because they all suck,” said Gotti III.
For his part, Mayweather said that he had been trying to organize this fight for two years and revealed that he maintains a friendship with his rival’s father, John Gotti Jr.
“I’m a friend of his father. That’s what people don’t know. I’ve always been a friend of the Gotti family,” Mayweather said. “I’ve been competing at the highest level for 27 years. And I’m going to keep having fun, entertaining myself, until I’m ready to say, you know what? Enough is enough.”
