Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The popularity of AI and its massive use is apparently not liked by everyone. At least that’s what happened to Snapchat, when many of its users protested about the AI features on the platform.
AI became popular when chatbot the original OpenAI, ChatGPT, became viral and many people use it. It wasn’t long before tech companies got into the AI battle by launching their own products.
Snap also did something similar to Snapchat at the end of February. My AI was introduced for Snapchat+ subscribers first and then on April 19th it was expanded to general users.
But it’s a shame that criticism poured in from users, one of which got a lot of one-star reviews on the App Store.
A note from Sensor Tower says the app’s average rating dropped to 1.67 and one-star reviews to 75%. This was different long before the My AI feature was launched, namely an average of 3.05 and only 35% for one star, quoted from Insider, Thursday (27/4/2023).
One of the reasons for this wave of protests is that My AI is at the top of Chat, this is usually used to interact with other friends. But only paying subscribers can turn it off chatbot That.
This means that those who are not Snapchat+ subscribers must be forced to meet My AI every time they send chats to friends. “To be honest, I think it’s so stupid. It’s unnecessary and ridiculous. You can’t unpin it. Or how can you not remove it unless you pay for Snapchat+,” one user wrote in an App Store review.
A number of users on Reddit and Tiktok also mentioned the security of their personal data. AI claims not to know the user’s location. But apparently it can suggest the nearest business or place from that location.
Insider explains Snap does not reply to comments regarding these negative reviews. But the company only responds if My AI provides a response according to its community guidelines.
“While My AI is far from perfect, our recent analysis of its performance found 99.5% of My AI’s responses met community guidelines,” said a company statement.
