Vienna: Austria’s Wiener Zeitung, one of the world’s oldest newspapers, will stop printing and go online from July 1. Founded in 1703 as the Winnerishes Diarium, the name was changed in 1780. It was nationalized in 1857 by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria.
Ten print publications will be maintained annually subject to availability of funds. The trade union said it feared about half of the more than 200 employees would lose their jobs.
