In Harlem, some businesses are suing to stop the state from opening a legal cannabis dispensary on 125th Street.
The 125th Street Business District Management Association is seeking to cancel the state’s lease with a store across from the Apollo Theater.
In the lawsuit, the group calls the location “irredeemable” due to crime, congestion and drug use in the area.
He points out that the owner of this site also rents a nearby unlicensed dispensary, where a murder occurred a few weeks ago. The lawsuit suggests that the state should have sought more local input and made a greater effort to explain why it chose this particular site.
