The Turkish Minister of Health, Fakhruddin Koca, announced the recent state of health of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, explaining that he was “in good condition” after suffering from gastroenteritis.
“I was with him this morning. He sends many greetings to all of you. Our president’s health is good,” Koca said while giving a speech in Konya on Thursday.
“Everyone is curious about the health of the Turkish president,” Koca continued, while stressing that “the impact of gastroenteritis has decreased, and he will continue his programs as soon as possible. He thanks all our compatriots who sent him good wishes.”
Erdogan is scheduled to attend, after hours, the ceremony of “loading the first fuel for the Okuyu Nuclear Power Plant”, via video technology, in the presence of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, according to Turkish media.
Later on Thursday, the opening was moved from 13:30 to 16:00 in the afternoon.
Since Tuesday evening, the health of the Turkish president has been the most discussed in the circles in Turkey, after Erdogan shortened a television interview that was being broadcast live at a late hour, and said that he was feeling unwell due to an upset stomach.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Tuesday, interrupted a live television interview before returning to apologize, speaking of his stomach flu.
After the interruption of the broadcast sparked a lot of controversy, while questions were raised about Erdogan’s health status, the Turkish president published a tweet the next day, in which he said that he would “rest at home on the advice of doctors.”
He explained, “Yesterday and today there was a lot of work. Because of that, I got stomach flu. For a moment, I wondered if I canceled the meeting, would it be misunderstood. But we made a promise. I ask your forgiveness and your audience.”
The Turkish leader is campaigning tirelessly in an effort before the presidential and legislative elections, the first of which began on Thursday, with voting for those outside the country, with citizens going to vote inside on the 14th of next May.
His main rival, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, 74, the candidate of the “Nation Alliance”, which includes six opposition parties, immediately wished Erdogan a “quick recovery”. Likewise, many other coalition leaders wished a speedy recovery, including the leader of the “Good Party”, Meral Aksnar. And his former companions, Ahmed Davutoglu and Ali Babacan.
Without mentioning any sources, the Chinese state TV channel CGTN claimed, on Wednesday, that Erdogan had suffered a heart attack, and the Turkish presidency quickly denied the news, while the Chinese channel returned to publish an explanatory news denying what it said first.
Meanwhile, Russian Telegram accounts claimed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin rushed to the Kremlin upon hearing news of Erdogan’s health, which was also denied by the Turkish presidency, through a tweet published by the head of the communications department, Fahrettin Altun.
The health of the Turkish president has always been a matter of controversy within the country, especially by the opposition parties, who raised the issue earlier, while Western media focused on it.
On October 29, 2021, a video clip of Erdogan walking with difficulty spread on social media, but soon the Turkish presidency published a counter-recording that showed him playing basketball.
On November 3 of that year, a series of posts on Twitter claimed that Erdogan had died and that the government was concealing the news, prompting the Turkish authorities, at the time, to initiate legal action against 30 people accused of the publication.
