“This benefit is determined by the presence of bitterness and antioxidants in the grains. But it should be mentioned that milk and cream added to coffee reduce the activity of coffee antioxidants, making it difficult for the body to absorb them,” Fus explained.

How to make coffee the right way

The nutritionist urged to refuse pouring coffee with boiling water, because in such a drink a lot of diterpenes are formed – kahveol and cafestol. These chemicals can raise blood cholesterol levels and harm the liver. You need to use paper filters to protect yourself from these substances. At the same time, valuable polyphenols, antioxidants found in coffee beans, will remain in the drink.

“Do not boil coffee, as it loses not only taste, but also benefits. More harmful substances are released from it, especially from finely ground coffee, essential oils with useful antioxidants are destroyed,” Fus noted.

It is better to use stainless steel or glass utensils for brewing coffee. It is advisable not to drink coffee on an empty stomach, so as not to irritate the gastric mucosa. You should not consume this drink along with meat and other iron-containing foods.
