Libyan olive oil continues to win international awards

3 Libyan olive oil companies from the city of Gharyan won awards in the Japan International Competition, among many companies representing 23 olive oil producing countries.

The Libyan Organization for Organic Agriculture reported. 3 Libyan olive oil companies from the city of Gharyan won prizes in the 11th edition of the international competition for the Japanese (Olive Oil) award, in which several companies representing 23 olive oil-producing countries participated.

The organization clarified that “Al-Mishkat” olive oil won the gold medal in the “unilateral” category, while “Al-Bustan” olive oil won the silver medal in the same category, and “Aryaf” oil won the silver medal in the “unilateral” category as well.

Gharyan olive oil won the gold medal in the Turkey 2022 competition to choose the best virgin olive oil in the world, after a strong competition that witnessed the participation of 15 countries, including the United States, Greece, Italy, Spain and Germany.

The “Al-Mishkat” company also won the silver medal in the “EVO” International Olive Oil Competition, which is organized in Italy, and the silver medal in the 2021 Athens Championship in Greece.

The cities (Gharyan, Tarhuna, Msallata, Bani Walid) in Libya are famous for producing oil with a production of more than 30,000 tons annually. Libya also ranks 11th globally in the production of oil of all kinds and crops, and individual consumption amounts to 2.1 liters annually, according to the World Olive Council.
