Munich (dpa / lby) – In Bavaria, around 35,000 schoolchildren started their Abitur exams on Wednesday. The first exams in German went smoothly, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Education in Munich announced. Next on the plan is a freely selectable subject and math. Between May 15th and 26th there will be oral exams in two more subjects.
In North Rhine-Westphalia there was a technical glitch at the beginning of the Abitur exams last week. About a third of the 900 schools had not been able to download the tasks for some subjects. The start of the exam has been postponed by one day. According to the ministry, this cannot happen in Bavaria, since the Abitur tasks are transmitted in paper form and opened at the schools on the morning of the respective examination day.
With a view to the consequences of the Corona crisis, consideration will again be given to the examinees in Bavaria this year. The students have 30 minutes more time for the written exams. Content that was not relevant to the exam was also published at an early stage.
