Cameroon news :: Assassination of Martinez Zogo: Amougou Belinga still in court this Thursday for his bail :: Cameroon news

Charged with “complicity in torture” in the assassination of journalist Martinez ZOGO, the CEO of the Anecdote group will still be at the Center Court of Appeal, this Thursday, April 27, 2023. Jean Pierre AMOUGOU BELINGA will try for the third time ( desperately?), to obtain parole, he who has been in preventive detention in the main prison of Yaoundé for almost two months.

On April 13, for his second appearance, the businessman again saw his request for parole postponed to this Thursday, April 27, 2023.

According to our information, the judge had motivated this dismissal for examination of the guarantees proposed by the accused.

According to some observers, Amougou Belinga is too likely to see his request succeed this Thursday. Others refer to the Code of Criminal Procedure, which in one of its provisions states that when the penalty incurred is either life imprisonment or the death penalty, freedom on bail or under guarantee is strictly prohibited. Amougou Belinga being charged with an offense for which the penalty incurred is life imprisonment.
