“French artist Pierre-Luc Poujol to showcase solo exhibition at Maison de la Région Occitanie New York”

The Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée region has invited the artist Pierre-Luc Poujol to the Maison de la Région Occitanie New York, for a solo pictorial exhibition.

The exhibition

Pierre-Luc Poujol will be the first artist to present on this occasion a dozen large formats including works exhibited at the Paul Valéry Museum in Sète, as part of the exhibition “Voyage à Giverny” in 2020 where he paid a vibrant tribute to the master of impressionism and light.

During this exhibition and a preview for the Maison de la Région Occitanie New York, the artist will also present to the public works that will open his next museum exhibition, scheduled for spring 2024 at the Paul Valéry Museum entitled “the forest call”.

Pierre-Luc Poujol, whose dripping work is already recognized in the United States, will bring his vision as a French artist, in line with the great American painters who inspired him, such as Sam Francis, Joan Mitchell and Jackson Pollock.

This exhibition is in line with the Occitanie region’s desire to make contemporary art a strong focus of its regional cultural policy. It drives, facilitates and accompanies initiatives whose vocation is to bring contemporary art closer to everyone with a qualitative ambition and a desire for international influence for its regional artists.

Pierre-Luc Poujol

From an early age, Pierre-Luc Poujol has placed the mutual relationship between man and his environment at the center of his artistic concerns. Influenced by the great masters of action painting, Pierre-Luc Poujol translates in his painting a real desire to be one with his works. In his workshop near Montpellier, color explodes: he resorts to dripping, projection, dripping… He never stops renewing himself, always going further in his artistic approach. He paints nature with nature and plays with borders. Union between the work and the technique; branches, ashes, leaves have also become his working tools.
