The Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) and the Barid Al Maghrib Group signed, on Tuesday in Rabat, a partnership agreement which sets the content and terms of cooperation between the two institutions with the aim of integrating the language Amazigh within the Barid Al-Maghrib Group.
Signed by the Rector of IRCAM, Ahmed Boukous, and the Director General of Barid Al Maghrib, Amin Benjelloun Touimi, this agreement covers the areas of translation, training, communication and documentation.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Boukous indicated that this agreement aims to integrate the Amazigh language to be used in the services and administrations under Barid Al Maghrib, noting that the integration of Amazigh in many public establishments begins to bear fruit.
In this regard, he pointed out that IRCAM is working with Barid Al Maghrib to launch an Amazigh version of its electronic portal, adding that the objective of this convention is also to employ young graduates of Amazigh studies in order to communicate with users of Barid Al Maghrib services who speak Amazigh.
For his part, Mr. Benjelloun Touimi affirmed that this agreement illustrates the desire of the Barid Al Maghrib Group to integrate the Amazigh language into its services, indicating that a joint commission composed of representatives of the two institutions has been created to monitor the implementation of this convention.
He noted, in this regard, that Barid Al Maghrib is working to promote tangible and intangible cultural heritage by issuing numerous postage stamps, recalling that the Group issued a postage stamp in Amazigh on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the glorious March Green.
Under this agreement, IRCAM will support Barid Al Maghrib in the translation of publications into Amazigh, in addition to coordinating between the two institutions for the translation of road signs into Amazigh within the administrative buildings of Barid Al Maghrib. and external services and establishments belonging to the Group.
In the field of training, this agreement provides for the development of a reference plan for training in the field of Amazigh, support for Barid Al Maghrib in the selection and training of the group’s staff qualified in translation towards the Amazigh language, the organization of training courses for the benefit of Barid Al Maghrib trainers who will be responsible for teaching the Amazigh language to the staff in charge of reception and communication and management of the Amazigh language on the website, in addition to providing educational tools (glossary, terminology list, applications, software).
The field of communication and documentation includes the coordination of communication activities of Barid Al Maghrib, the joint organization of events and forums relating to areas of common character between the two parties, and the exchange of publications and documents related to the subject of the agreement.
The signing of this agreement constitutes a general framework of cooperation between the two institutions and concretizes their common will to contribute to the implementation of the official character of the Amazigh language, in accordance with article 5 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Morocco. and the provisions of Organic Law No. 26-16.
