Incident at Parc OL: Marseille supporter beaten up by Lyon fans in racist attack

We know more about the incidents that took place at Parc OL after the final whistle of the match between Lyon and OM on Sunday evening. After posting on social media of a video where we see a man being beaten up by several Lyon supporters shouting racist and anti-Marseille insults, an investigation has been opened to shed light on this incident. According to information from RMC, the beaten man is indeed a Marseille supporter who lives in Lorient. He will soon file a complaint, while SOS Racisme intends to file a civil action. He was issued three days of total incapacity for work (ITT).

He was accompanied by six friends present in the Lyon enclosure, outside the parking lot, and the latter made the mistake of showing their joy too much after the Marseille victory goal at the last minute. Which would have given rise to the start of a fight in the stadium, according to Xavier Pierrot, the stadium manager of OL, who is trying to shift the responsibility onto OM supporters: “It started first in the stands where the blows are reciprocal, there are two bands of 7 and 15 who compete. But on the forecourt, it is this supporter who jumps – to be very precise – on the supporters Lyon first” he told BFM Lyon.

For its part, OM specified to Provence that he condemns the violence and the remarks. The Marseille club is awaiting the conclusions of the investigation and makes it known that it will be available to the victim or victims, OL and the courts if a complaint is filed.
