“Škoda announces new electric cars – including Octavia Combi equivalent – with updated design language”

Only one of Škoda’s four upcoming electric innovations already has a name. A compact SUV with a length of 4.5 meters and the proportions of the Karoq – whose electric successor it is according to the brand – will be called the Elroq. Of all the electric cars unveiled today, it will also be the first: already next year. Last year, the car company in Mladá Boleslav even tested production lines for new SUVs.

A year after Elroq, two novelties will arrive. First, it will be a rejuvenated Enyaq iV in both body variants, at the same time a small SUV with a length of 4.1 meters and a trunk with a volume of around 460 liters will also be shown. It will be built in Spain along with its siblings from Volkswagen and the Cupra. Skoda calls the car “Small” at work, and according to the earlier statement of the head of Volkswagen, Thomas Schäfer, we know that, unlike the sister VW ID.2, the upcoming Skoda will not cost less than 25 thousand euros, i.e. about 600 thousand crowns. Mladoboleslavská automobilka mentions the price around this limit.

The most interesting of the announced electric cars with a winged arrow will appear in 2026. Under the working name “Combi” there is a 4.7 meter long model, which should be the electric equivalent to the existing Octavia Combi. His trunk should hold about 600 liters. Next to it, a production version of the 4.9-meter-long large SUV with the working name “Space” will arrive in about three years. But it is nothing more than the serial specification of last year’s Vision 7S concept.

He was the first to present the Modern Solid design language, in which all the mentioned electric cars will be launched and will gradually be extended to models with a combustion engine. This year’s upcoming new generations of Superb and Kodiaq will not be too affected by it, but its influence will gradually expand.

Škoda hints at the appearance of the upcoming electric cars with a series of sculptures that it also showed to journalists at today’s premiere. The basic lines of the upcoming language are evident on them: we can talk above all about the powerful design of the front parts with a narrow mask and the inscription “Škoda” instead of the logo. However, it is still too early for further details.

By 2027, they want to pour 5.6 billion euros into electromobility in Mladá Boleslav, that’s almost 132 billion crowns. At the same time, they continue to count on gasoline engines and plug-in hybrids – however, they are also now completely responsible for the development of the EA 211 petrol series with and without turbocharging for the entire VW concern in Mladá Boleslav. The new generations of the Superb and Kodiaq have already been discussed, the Scala and Kamiq are also awaiting modernization this year, and the rejuvenated Octavia will arrive next year.
