“Cuba Begins Administering Third Booster Dose of Soberana 02 Vaccine to 137,000 People in Sancti Spiritus”

Around 137,000 people from Sancti Spiritus, from 19 to 69 years of age, will receive this third booster dose against SARS-CoV-2. Everyone will be administered the Cuban Sovereign 02 vaccine

Starting this Tuesday, the third booster dose of the anticovid vaccination began to be applied in Sancti Spíritus, which this time includes people between the ages of 19 and 69 from all the territories of the province.

As reported to Escambray Dr. Niuvis Fundora Martín, head of the Vaccination Program in the Provincial Health Directorate, the administration of this third anticovid reinforcement began today by the municipalities of Sancti Spíritus, Yaguajay and Trinidad and the other territories will gradually be incorporated in the remainder of week.

“Around 137,000 people from San Espiritu will receive this third booster dose,” said Fundora Martín, “a process that will be done in stages and in which the Cuban Soberana 02 vaccine will be administered.

“Vaccination will take place in the 23 existing polyclinics in the province and in other vaccination points available in the health areas. It will be carried out according to the organization established in each territory, but those places where a more complicated epidemiological hygienic situation is present will be prioritized, ”he said.

Likewise, the galena clarified that in order to apply this third booster dose against covid, people must have received the second booster six months ago and not be infected with covid at the time of vaccination.

In addition, those who present acute or chronic decompensated diseases at the time of receiving the drug, or those active cancer patients who are in the course of a specific cancer treatment, such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, cannot be vaccinated.

Workers in the Health and Tourism sector and people over 70 years of age are also excluded from this third booster dose, groups for which this vaccination began months ago.

At the same time that this third anticovid booster is being developed for the population over 19 years of age, the province also continues with the booster vaccination of pregnant women who are in the third trimester of pregnancy —regardless of age— and pediatric population between two and up to 18 years of age.
