The “high level of service” bus line will run from 2026 between La Part-Dieu and the Sept Chemins stop in Bron, via Vaulx-en-Velin and Villeurbanne.
A new bus lane passing through Bron, major developments on the roadway and “very worried” residents and traders. On the set of BFM Lyon this Tuesday morning, the collective of the route de Genas widely denounced the bus project with “high level of service” (BHNS) which will serve the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon from 2026 (via avenue Félix Faure ), Villeurbanne, Vaulx-en-Velin and therefore Bron (via the road to Genas).
A “super-bus”, which will reach “a commercial speed equivalent to or even greater than a tram (15 to 20 km / h)” and will serve the inhabitants with “high frequencies and guaranteed regularity from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.”, according to the Sytral.
“Today, the consequence for the inhabitants of the district is that there will be expropriations, and four houses, which are more than 100 years old today, are concerned”, denounces Sandrine Claudin, one of the spokespersons for the Genas road collective.
“Residents, who have lived there for 50 years and who have built their lives there, are struck by alignment”, continues the latter. In other words, these houses will be razed.
The latter would be “dejected” and “desperate” in the face of this situation according to the collective, which also denounces “a pseudo-negotiation which is not one” between the company which wishes to buy the land and the inhabitants, victims of ” psychological pressure”.
“It destroys the whole neighborhood”
On the side of Bron, the inhabitants but also certain traders have organized themselves and take a dim view of the arrival of this new means of transport. This is the case of Ali Harbaoui, baker and also spokesperson for the Genas road collective.
A “good part” of its establishment as well as a car park will be razed to make way for the new route of the BHLS. A situation that “destroys the whole neighborhood”, and which makes him “very worried” about the future of his bakery.
“Dreams go up in smoke, I’m going to lose everything”, confides the baker on our antenna this Tuesday morning.
“This project follows the route of line 25”
Despite a consultation that took place with the inhabitants of the areas concerned at the end of 2021, the collective considers for its part that the discussions have not been good and denounces “things that are happening unilaterally” and a project “passed in force”.
“They act in dictatorship”, denounces Sandrine Claudin, one of the spokespersons of the collective of the road of Genas about Sytral, guest of Bonjour Lyon this Tuesday morning.
The latter also asks Sytral to listen to the point of view of opponents of the “super bus” project linking Bron with Lyon, Villeurbanne and Vaulx-en-Velin.
A useful project? For Marion Carrier, assistant (UDI) to the city of Bron, in charge of mobilities, the answer is no. “This project follows the route of line 25 […] and today we put a BHLS on the same route. So we wonder, in terms of impact and transfer of flows, who will take the BHLS more than the 25”.
“We ask ourselves the question because there is no park and ride at the terminus at Sept Chemins and the line does not go further, to Chassieu or Genas, as it should have been the case initially”, confided the latter. at the microphone of BFM Lyon on April 21.
At Sytral, however, it is assured that this new bus, combined with “the new Lyon route number 11”, should calm the road to Genas, which is frequently congested. The company hopes to transport up to 22,000 passengers per day on the line by 2030 between the city center of the capital of Gaul and eastern Lyon.
