The prosecution, which is investigating allegations of illegal funds for the 2021 Democratic Party Convention, banned former CEO Song Young-gil from leaving the country after returning to Korea yesterday.
The 2nd Anti-Corruption Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office turned former CEO Song, who was accused by a civic group, into a suspect yesterday, and banned former CEO Song from leaving the country so that he cannot go abroad again.
The prosecution believes that from March to May 2021, during the party convention, Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok and former Korea Water Resources Corporation executive auditor Kang Rae-gu conspired to create and distribute 94 million won for Song’s election.
Meanwhile, the prosecution is investigating former auditor Kang, whose arrest warrant was dismissed last Friday, again today, and plans to request an arrest warrant for former auditor Kang again as soon as the reinforcement investigation is completed.
