Carrie Fisher to be Honored with Posthumous Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

US actress Carrie Fisher, who became famous as Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” saga, is to be honored posthumously in Hollywood. The 2754th star plaque with her name on the famous “Walk of Fame” will be presented on May 4th, the award conferors announced yesterday. Her daughter, actress Billie Lourd (30), is set to unveil the star.

The star is just meters from the plaque of Mark Hamill, who played Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars,” the statement said. The star of Fisher’s mother Debbie Reynolds (“Gold Digger-Molly”, “Singin’ in the Rain”) is therefore across the street.

Fisher died on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles a few days earlier. Her mother died just a day after her at the age of 84.

The star ceremony now planned falls on “Star Wars” day, which is traditionally celebrated on May 4th. The English pronunciation of the date (“May the Fourth”) is reminiscent of the famous greeting “May the Force be with You” (in German: “May the force be with you”) from the Star Warrior saga.
