Ricardo O’Farrill, a Mexican comedian, sparked a controversy on social networks by revealing that Mau Nieto and Daniel Sosa, two of his colleagues, drugged a woman with MDMA, a synthetic drug that acts as a hallucinogenic stimulant according to the National Institute of United States Health.
“Those two found it very funny” was the accusation of O’Farrill, who pointed out to the comedians the act of violence against a woman whose name he does not reveal.
MDMA is a strong drug for the body. Its use, according to US health authorities, can damage nerve cells that have serotonin. The comedian reported that “the woman (who had MDMA put in his drink) it got very bad and it looks like Daniel took care of her all night.”
What is MDMA?
Also known as Ecstasy, it is a drug that “produces an energizing effect, distorts sensory perception and temporary and makes sensory experiences more deeply enjoyable.”
The common use of this drug is through tablets that also contain methamphetamine, the anesthetic ketamine, caffeine, the diet drug ephedrine.
People commonly take two MDMA tablets, one at the start and one when the first wears off, which, they warn, is dangerous because it can cause adverse side effects to the body.
MDMA: What are the effects of its consumption?
The US Institute of Health notes that MDMA “affects the brain by increasing the activity of at least three neurotransmitters”:
- serotonin: “It is a neurotransmitter that plays an important role in regulating mood, sleep, pain, appetite, and other behaviors.” If it is produced in excess, it can cause negative psychological effects.
- dopamine.
- Norepinephrine.
MDMA use contributes to increased depression, anxiety, and paranoiaas well as memory impairment.
