Kolkata. A 64-year-old widowed woman was found with her dead mother’s body in a house in North Kolkata in the month of February. Now one such heart-wrenching case has come to the fore in Bijoygarh area of South Kolkata, where a 68-year-old woman was found lying with her daughter’s dead body in the house for about 2-3 days. The deceased daughter of the woman has been identified as 32-year-old Sanchita Basu. Police has given this information.
According to a senior police officer of Kolkata, the mother of the deceased is a mentally deranged elderly woman. Police had received information on Monday that an elderly woman was living with the body of her 38-year-old daughter in her house in the southern part of Bijoygarh area.

He said that when the delivery boy on the second floor came to deliver his food on Monday afternoon, he could smell the foul smell from inside the room. The delivery boy informed the neighbors about this. He informed the police about this. After the complaint, the policemen of Jadavpur police station reached the spot. He told that after breaking the door, the policemen found an elderly woman Deepali Basu (68) sitting near the dead body of her daughter Sanchita Basu (38). After this, the police have taken the elderly woman to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital for mental and physical treatment. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem and the police have sealed the residence where the mother-daughter used to live.
According to the police officer, preliminary investigation has revealed that the mother-daughter had no source of income and only one of their relatives used to send them food. Both of them were living together since 2006. She rarely interacted with both the neighbors.
An investigating officer said that we are investigating the matter whether it is a simple case of death or suicide or murder. All this will be known only after the post mortem report comes.
The incident brought back memories of the Robinson Street case, in which software engineer Partha Dey spent six months with the skeletons of his sister Debjani Dey and two pet dogs. The police also came to know about this matter when on June 10, 2015, her father Arabinda Dey had set himself on fire and the police reached there during the investigation of his death.
In February, a 64-year-old widowed woman was found with her dead mother’s body in a house in North Kolkata. The deceased woman, Namita Ghoshal (90), lived with her 64-year-old daughter, who had become a widow after a few years of marriage. The local police were told by the neighbors that after losing her husband, she returned to her parents and started living with them.
