A landmine explosion in Cameroon’s Far North region on Monday has resulted in six deaths, as per local and security sources. The incident occurred on the road between Bavongola and Zeleved, where Boko Haram militants have recently increased attacks on both military personnel and civilians. Reports suggest that the army was in pursuit of the assailants, who are believed to be members of the extremist group. This is the deadliest attack by Boko Haram on the military this year. At least six soldiers have died, and two others have sustained serious injuries in the attack. The injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
