Significant Drug Seizure in Bergen After Random Police Check

The emergency police stopped a car in the center of Bergen on Monday evening for a random check. It was bad news for the man in the passenger seat.

– He was carrying a large amount of drugs. During a search of his residence afterwards, further quantities of hashish, cocaine and amphetamine were found, duty police lawyer Ole Vallestad Emmerhoff tells BA.

He did not want to say the exact scale of the seizure when BA spoke to him, but described it as “significant”. He told BT later on Monday evening that it was about a kilo of hashish, two kilos of amphetamines and a small amount of cocaine.

The man in his 20s was arrested and charged with possession of drugs with a view to sale. According to the police lawyer, he has previously been convicted of drug offences, profiteering crimes and breaches of the Road Traffic Act.

– He is in custody tonight, and will be questioned tomorrow. Then we will have to make an assessment on further investigation after that, says Emmerhoff, who states that there are currently no other suspects in the case.
