Irish boxing community mourns the loss of talented boxer Oran Gethins, who passed away in a tragic car accident in Co Leitrim on Saturday. Born in Dromhair, Co Leitrim, Oran was living in Woodland Ballytivan, Co Sligo at the time of his passing. He was only 23 when the accident occurred near his home. Oran was a member of the Sean McDermott’s boxing club in Sligo, where he won an Irish title at the age of 16. Last weekend, the club recognized him with a special award. The boxing community is heartbroken by Oran’s passing, with Sean McDermott’s boxing club stating that “Our heartfelt condolences go out to his dad Sandy, Mum Maeve, and younger brother Zac, and also to the extended Gethins and Gallagher family at this heart-breaking time. Rest in peace champ.” Funeral arrangements have yet to be made, and the Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
